Catching Up
Sunday, June 29th, 2008It’s fun to catch up with good friends.
On Saturday, Sabrina had her bridal shower. In short, Sabrina was really excited and quite elated to receive gifts from her beloved sisters. While Sabrina was at her bridal shower, being the center of attention (and rightfully so), I had a couple of hours without her. So…Who do I spend it with?
Well, I spent that time with two of my favorite friends, Scott and Steve. Scott was in town because his wife, Adrienne, was attending Sabrina’s bridal shower and Steve’s wife, Steph, was at the same party.
Steve and Scott picked me up from Sabrina’s place and we headed to the local In ‘N Out. It was such a blessing. Even though I’m not married (6 months and counting!), it was pleasant to hang out with two married men and we had such a wonderful time sharing and gleaming insightful wisdom from one another.
I think the general consensus was that the call to leadership as a Husband is great. That particular emphasis was greatly stressed and it certainly left a heavy conviction upon my heart. I think we all agreed that we suck and we have to figure out a way to lead with great spiritual care and urgency.
Another thought that crossed my mind was the utter transparency we share as brothers in Christ. I haven’t seen Scott on a consistent basis and for that matter, I don’t talk with him unless I see him face to face, but the times we spend together, they’re always a blessing and we’re able to share and to really get into deep matters. I praise the Lord for such thoughtful brothers and their continual honesty and encouragements in Christ. I know as the wedding approaches, I’ll be counting on these men and their wisdom.
