Total: 81 push-ups. I did one more than Day 1. For some reason, I’m hitting 30 on my max’s. Can’t break it. I think it has to do with my breathing. Normally, what do ya’ll do? Breathe in going up? Or Breathe in going down? Or vice-versa.

Initial Test: Max Out

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Today was 0 day for my 100 push-up challenge.

The goal was to max out today to get a base-line number and then correlate it to a chart that would tell me how many reps I need to do.

Max Number: 35

100 Push-Ups

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

So..I think a lot of people are jumping onto this “100 Push-Up Challenge” thing. My future brother-in-law has strongly urged me to partake in the challenge (since he’s doing it with his wife), and now my current home-mate is encouraging me to do it.

I’m torn. My basketball shot is just getting into form and if I do this push-up challenge, it’ll throw off my shot.

But the benefits of doing this challenge might outweigh the shooting touch. Fine. I’ll do it. I’ll update with how many I’ve done and whatnot so everyone out in blog-world can keep me accountable.

The Sham of Faith-Healers

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

A moving story done by a Professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. One must read this to gain a better perspective on Todd Bentley’s “healing” ministry in Florida. After reading Dr. Dembski’s article, I’m more than skeptical at all “faith-healers” and their public ministries.

If you’d like to read the article, click here.

Camping? You’ll need this.

I was browsing the web today, and came across this website that sells sleeping bags. However, there is one major caveat to their sleeping bag–it’s one you can actually wear!!! You look like a cross between an astronaut and a stand-in for one of Puff Daddy and Ma$e’s music video!! It’s freaking hilarious.

Wall-E

Wall-e

Today, we went to the local movie theater (AMC La Jolla) and watched Wall-E for $5. I love these early movie deals.

I enjoyed the movie. It was a pleasant movie that had some clear messages for adults and in some ways, for little kids. Obviously, for the younger kids, I think some of the overall themes might be missed, but for the adults, the themes of “environment, technology, being active, comfort and love” were all very clearly suggested. Typical of Pixar, they managed to give everyday objects and intangible objects humanly characteristics. It goes without saying, the main character, Wall-E is highly likable and cute. He’s just a nice robot.

After watching the movie, I had some thoughts concerning technology and it’s steady rise in culture and civilization. The movie does play up the roll of technology and the effect of making human civilization more…lazy. It’s a point that I agree. While I do believe that technology has advanced human culture, I also think that it instills in the younger generation a bit of laziness. It’s certainly something I worry about and I worry how it will affect my children in the future.

Moral of the story? Hard work pays off.
